Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials according to detailed plans and specifications.
- Measure and mark surfaces accurately to guide the laying and alignment process.
- Mix and apply mortar or bonding materials to secure masonry units.
- Cut and shape bricks and blocks using appropriate hand or power tools.
- Repair and replace damaged bricks, blocks, and mortar to maintain structural integrity.
- Ensure all structures are level, straight, and properly aligned.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints effectively.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order to support efficient work.
- Follow all site safety regulations and company policies rigorously.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors and other team members to complete projects on schedule.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times.
Candidate Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum education level: Grade 9 or equivalent.
- Certificate or formal training in bricklaying or masonry is advantageous.
- Proven experience working as a bricklayer or mason.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and blueprints.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor in demanding environments.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Good communication skills and discipline on site.
