Key Responsibilities for the Audit Officer Role

As an Audit Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our branches and departments comply with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting monthly audits of branches and departments in line with the established audit plan.
• Visiting client groups at branch locations to assess and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Preparing detailed audit reports supported by clear evidence and comprehensive working papers following each audit exercise.
• Managing the full audit cycle, including risk assessment, planning, evaluation of internal controls, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Obtaining, analyzing, and evaluating accounting documentation, reports, data flowcharts, and system postings to support audit findings.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Audit Officer Jobs in Lusaka

Candidates applying for this position should meet the following requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, finance, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• Completion of a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA is preferred; candidates who have partially completed these qualifications are also eligible.
• An IT-related qualification or background is advantageous but not essential.
• At least three years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of two years in internal audit, with a solid understanding of auditing standards and applicable laws.
• Proficiency in computer use and data analysis to produce clear, evidence-based audit reports.
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership or budget management is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to travel long distances with short notice, including overnight stays.
