GED Zambia is seeking a dedicated Clinical and Wellness Officer to lead the delivery and coordination of primary healthcare, emergency first response, and workforce wellness services across project sites in Zambia, with additional cross-border support into the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role is pivotal in ensuring comprehensive medical and wellness support in remote and high-risk environments.

Position Overview

The Clinical and Wellness Officer will oversee the effective operation of site-based clinics and first aid stations, delivering timely medical interventions, occupational health support, and promoting holistic employee wellbeing. The role combines clinical healthcare delivery with structured wellness initiatives, emphasizing mental health, psychosocial wellbeing, and preventative healthcare for the workforce. Additionally, the officer will contribute to approved community health and outreach programs.

This position requires a proactive, compassionate healthcare professional capable of working independently while maintaining alignment with HSSE, medical, and operational standards. Based in Mwense, Zambia, the role involves travel to various operational sites, including locations within the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate primary healthcare and emergency first response services at project sites.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of clinics and first aid stations in remote and high-risk settings.
  • Provide occupational health support and promote comprehensive employee wellness programs.
  • Champion mental health and psychosocial wellbeing initiatives across the workforce.
  • Support community health and outreach activities as approved by GED Zambia.
  • Operate independently while adhering to HSSE, medical, and operational protocols.
  • Travel to operational sites within Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or a related healthcare discipline.
  • Valid and active registration with HPCZ and/or GNC.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in occupational health, emergency response, site clinics, or remote healthcare environments.
  • Certified training in counselling, psychosocial support, or mental health is an advantage.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; additional certifications in ALS, Trauma Care, or Emergency First Aid are beneficial.
  • Proven experience in primary healthcare, first aid, occupational health, wellness programs, or community healthcare initiatives.
  • Strong clinical judgement, interpersonal communication, counselling, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in remote, high-pressure operational settings.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Fluency in English and Bemba.
