About the Senior Human Resource Officer Role

The Senior Human Resource Officer will serve on a fixed-term contract for 24 months, reporting directly to the Group Senior Manager Human Resources. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the overall HR function to ensure effective service delivery across the company.

Key responsibilities include implementing and enforcing HR policies and procedures, interpreting employment conditions for line management, and assisting with recruitment, disciplinary matters, and grievance handling. Additionally, the officer will participate in developing and executing HR strategic plans and labour budgets to sustain the organization’s human resource needs.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Human Resource Officer Jobs in Lusaka

  • Implement and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring accurate interpretation of employment conditions to line managers.
  • Assist in managing recruitment and selection processes, including handling disciplinary cases and grievances within departments.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of HR strategic, operational, and labour budgets/plans to support sustainable human resource management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a relevant Social Science discipline.
  • Full membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) and a valid practicing licence for 2026.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a reputable organization, with proven expertise in end-to-end human resource processes.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office suite is essential.

Desired Knowledge and Personal Attributes

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, particularly the Employment Code Act No. 3 of 2019.
  • Expertise in employment contract management and ability to interpret employment conditions to line managers.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, time management, and a strong ethical framework with high integrity.
  • Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, achievement orientation, and capacity to work under pressure.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn, self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
