About E-Ride Zambia E-Ride Zambia is pioneering electric mobility solutions across Zambia. We develop, assemble, and market solar batteries and electric motorcycles from our Lusaka hub, working closely with our research and development team in Zurich, Switzerland. As we grow our impact, we’re seeking a multifaceted Country Manager (female/male) to lead and expand our Zambian operations. The Role As Engineering Team Lead & Project Manager, you’ll lead our Zambian technical team while driving operational efficiency and product delivery. This role demands both technical leadership and the ability to motivate and inspire a growing engineering team in a fast-paced startup environment. Key Responsibilities Technical Operations Management Oversee assembly line operations for electric motorcycles and battery systems Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and quality control Manage technical project delivery including the Chipata expansion initiative Ensure equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and technical compliance Optimize resource allocation across engineering projects Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and remove team blockers Engineering Leadership & Team Development Lead and scale our engineering and production teams (currently 3 engineers/technicians) Establish engineering best practices, quality standards, and production workflows Help the young engineers across mechanical, electrical, and assembly disciplines Build talent pipeline through recruitment, training, and performance development Foster innovation culture while maintaining production targets Coordinate technical collaboration with our Swiss R&D team Strategic Business Interface Translate business objectives into engineering deliverables Partner with sales on technical specifications and customer requirements Manage regulatory compliance for technical certifications and standards Drive cost optimization without compromising quality What You Bring Essential Here’s the condensed list without headers: 2-3+ years managing engineering/technical teams) with proven team-building abilities Self-starter who executes with minimal oversight Hands-on experience in manufacturing/assembly environments with track record of scaling operations and improving efficiency Sales/business development experience with solid understanding of business administration (accounting, licensing, compliance) Exceptional emotional intelligence with excellent communication skills, including presentations and translating technical concepts cross-functionally Strong organizational and planning capabilities with ability to juggle multiple technical initiatives Technical Skills (Preferred) Background in an engineering discipline preferred Experience with renewable energy preferred Familiarity with CAD tools, production planning software preferred Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license Passport for potential technical training in Switzerland Own laptop for remote collaboration with international team What We Offer Competitive compensation package (base salary + performance incentives) Office location in Woodlands, near Lewanika Mall Comprehensive on-the-job training in electric mobility technology High-visibility exposure: media engagements, government relations, executive negotiations Cutting-edge experience in a rapidly growing clean-tech industry International, multicultural work environment Meaningful impact : Help build a cleaner, more sustainable future for Zambia Join us in building the future of sustainable transportation in Zambia while leading a team of passionate engineers and technicians.
