About the role:

Our Client is looking for a Butchery Assistant that supports the daily operations and sales of a butcher shop by assisting customers, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, as well as driving sales in the butchery.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive sales in the butchery
Must be Computer literate
Weigh, package, label, and price meat items for sale
Ensure proper storage of meat according to food safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment
Help display products in an attractive and organized manner
Serve customers, answer questions, and provide basic product recommendations
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor
Follow health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times

Minimum Qualifications/ Traits:

Grade 12 Certificate
Must be computer literate
Sales experience
Basic knowledge of meat cuts and handling (training can be provided)
Ability to use knives and butchery equipment safely
Good physical stamina (standing for long hours, lifting heavy items)
Strong attention to hygiene and cleanliness
Good customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a team
Previous experience in a butchery or retail environment is an advantage

Working Conditions:

Work in a cold environment (refrigerated areas)
May include weekends and holidays
Requires use of protective clothing (gloves, aprons, etc.)

Compensation:

The incumbent will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
