JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication (ZAMCOM) was established under the ZAMCOM Act of Parliament of 1996 to provide Communications and Media training and production services.
ZAMCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill in the following position;
PRINT TECHNICIAN
Reporting to Graphic Design & Print Officer
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and quality output of printing equipment within the Business Centre. The successful candidate will ensure efficient production of printed materials, maintain high-quality standards, and support design and production teams in delivering client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain printing machines and related equipment
• Prepare materials for printing, including paper selection, ink setup, and calibration
• Monitor print jobs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality output
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of printing equipment
• Ensure proper finishing of printed materials (cutting, binding, laminating, etc.)
• Coordinate with graphic designers to ensure correct file formatting and print readiness
• Maintain inventory of printing supplies and materials
• Adhere to safety standards and operational procedures in the print room
• Manage multiple print jobs while meeting deadlines
Qualifications
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
• Diploma in Printing Technology, Graphic Design, or related field
• Certification in print production or machine operation will be an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Strong knowledge of printing machines and production processes
• Experience with digital and/or offset printing
• Basic understanding of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Good knowledge of print materials, inks, and finishing techniques
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements
• Proven experience in a print production environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
• Professional attitude and strong work ethic
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new printing technologies
