Key Responsibilities for the Safety Officer Role
The primary purpose of the Officer, Safety is to oversee and enhance the safety performance of our Trident operation by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing practical measures to minimize workplace dangers. Responsibilities include:

Promoting occupational health and safety and developing safer work practices.
Inspecting workplaces and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational standards.
Collaborating with engineers, supervisors, and coordinators to maintain safe worksites and practices.
Ensuring proper storage of hazardous materials and identifying potential accident and health hazards such as toxic fumes or explosive mixtures.
Ensuring personnel comply with relevant legislation regarding workplace safety and duty of care.
Recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries, and health concerns.
Assisting in accident investigations and recommending corrective actions.
Communicating regularly with management on occupational health and safety initiatives.
Developing and maintaining health and safety systems, including policies and manuals.
Driving the digitization of health and safety processes within Trident and the broader FQML Group.
Reviewing and verifying implementation of action plans and managing incident close-outs via INX InControl.
Performing additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related mining qualification.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar safety role, preferably within the mining sector.
Valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience.
Certification and experience in First Aid are mandatory.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
