Overview

My client, a large-scale agricultural enterprise located in Southern Province, Zambia, is expanding its avocado operations (240 hectares) is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the role of Farm Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a significant export-focused avocado development project with long-term growth potential.

Role Overview

The Farm Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the development of 240 hectares of Hass avocados, overseeing all aspects of orchard establishment and infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee land preparation and orchard establishment

Supervise irrigation installation (drip system)

Manage large-scale operational teams (100+ employees)

Oversee machinery usage and site operations

Assist in planning packhouse development (subject to final decision)

Ensure efficient daily operations aligned with export standards

Minimum 5 years’ experience in farm or orchard management

Avocado experience advantageous but not mandatory

Strong practical agricultural background

Sound mechanical and technical skills (essential)

Construction management and project oversight

Basic computer literacy

Formal qualifications advantageous but not essential if supported by strong references and proven experience
