My client is a leading crop protection company operating in Zambia, supplying high-quality agrochemicals and agronomic solutions to commercial, emerging, and corporate farming operations. Their focus is on sustainable crop production, yield optimisation, and technical excellence across Zambia’s key agricultural regions.

The Role

They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Agronomist to provide advanced technical leadership and agronomic support across Zambia. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening grower relationships, supporting the commercial team, and positioning their crop protection portfolio in a competitive market. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role requiring strong field presence, commercial awareness, and the ability to develop technical talent.

Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and capacity development across Zambia
Provide advanced crop protection advisory services to commercial and emerging farmers
Develop and oversee crop protection programmes for maize, wheat, soybeans, sugar, tobacco, cotton, and horticultural crops
Standardise technical protocols and ensure consistency in field recommendations
Monitor pest, disease, and weed pressures across agro-ecological zones
Oversee and validate field trials, demonstrations, and data reporting
Provide technical training to internal sales teams and distributor partners
Support regulatory compliance and product stewardship in line with ZEMA requirements
Contribute to strategic planning, product positioning, and market development

Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Protection, or related field (Master’s Degree advantageous)
Minimum 8–10 years’ practical agronomic experience within Zambia or Southern Africa
Strong knowledge of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Proven experience in field trials and commercial crop advisory
Strong understanding of Zambia’s farming systems and seasonal patterns
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
