Job description

Olinda Minerals Limited is a leading Company in Zambia , specialized in the extraction of mineral resources such as fluorides. To continue supporting the government’s job creation initiatives, we are seeking qualified ,innovative and dynamic individuals to fill the position of a Geologist at our Mine based in Siavonga District of Southern Province.

Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Geology from a recognized College or university in Zambia.

Experience:  Five (5) years experience and above and experience in Fluorides exploration will be an added advantage. 

Job Description: 

Conduct geological & structure mapping in the work areas as defined by the company.

Geo-chemical sampling (soil, bedrock, stream-sediment) or any other related sampling as assigned from time to time in the work areas defined by the company.

Activities related to trenching like face mapping, sampling and machine supervision.

Assisting in all activities related to drilling like core logging, core sampling, Core yard activities of markup, orientation and core cutting.

Assist with the collection, data management, reporting and interpretation of geological, geo chemical, geophysical and drilling data.

Assist with the management and control of the quality and standards of consistent and secure databases and information storage.

Supervision of Quality Assurance and quality control (QAQC) in sampling related to exploration activities.

Resource evaluation: Estimating the amount and quality of mineral resources in a given area using geological data and 3D modelling techniques.

Undertake in-pit mapping and 3D interpretation.

Safety management involves identifying and managing potential risks associated with exploration & mining activities and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Data management, reporting and interpretation of geological, geochemical and geophysical field and drilling data.

Assist in administration activities related to exploration & mining.

Any other exploration-related activity or assisting in camp management.

Assist in supervision of fluoride processing plant work related to geological and mineralogical aspects.

Training: Supervise & impart necessary training for upgrading the knowledge and skills of the support staff.

Remuneration will be based on the candidate’s experience and competency as per requirements in the Job Description..
