Forest Africa Zambia Ltd is a Zambian-based company dedicated to sustainable natural resource management and the commercialization of inclusive indigenous non-timber forest-based value chains. The company works with rural communities to support livelihoods, empower women and youth, and promote environmental conservation through initiatives such as wild fruit collection, baobab and other indigenous fruit processing, and reforestation programs. Forest Africa Zambia Ltd also produces high-quality organic beverages and products, adhering to food safety and quality standards, while fostering climate resilience and sustainable community development.

Forest Africa Zambia Ltd, with the support of SNV Zambia and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), through the Innovations for Poverty (IAP) challenge fund program, is implementing a business scale up project focused on strengthening inclusive supply chain (focus on smallholder strengthening) , improved processing capacity and increased distribution to local and potential export market.

1. Project Manager

Job Title: Project Manager

Role Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, leadership, and successful delivery of the project. The role focuses on ensuring that project objectives are achieved efficiently, on time, and in compliance with approved plans, budgets, and donor requirements, while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for project implementation.
Coordinate project planning, execution, and monitoring in line with approved work plans.
Lead and supervise project staff, promoting teamwork and accountability.
Oversee project budgeting, reporting, and compliance processes.
Coordinate engagement with community stakeholders, partners, and service providers.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of narrative and progress reports.
Identify implementation risks and support timely problem-solving and adaptive management.
Represent the project in internal and external meetings as required.

Bachelor’s degree in project management, Development Studies, Agribusiness, Biological Sciences, Business Administration or related field (master’s an added advantage).

Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management, agribusiness, or rural development (experience in smallholder farmer programs, wild fruit value chains, or food processing initiatives is an advantage).

Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with smallholder farmers and community-based value chains.
Excellent reporting and communication skills.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Specialist

Job Title: MEL Specialist
Reports to: Project Manager

Purpose of the Role

To design, implement, and manage the project Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system, ensuring accurate tracking of progress, outcomes, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and operationalize the project M&E framework, indicators, and tools.
Train project staff and community groups on M&E systems and reporting.
Monitor field activities including farmer onboarding, training, sourcing, and reforestation activities.
Collect, analyse, and document project data and lessons learned.
Prepare periodic progress, performance, and impact reports.
Support learning, adaptive management, and evidence-based decision making.
Coordinate project-wide reporting on milestones, outputs, and outcomes.
Support audit preparation through documentation and verification of results.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in MEL or developmental project implementation for donor-funded projects.
Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
Experience with community-based and agricultural projects is an advantage.
Proficiency in MS Excel, SPSS/STATA or similar tools.

3. Logistics Officer

Job Title: Logistics Officer
Reports to: Project Manager
Duty Station: Chilanga with extensive field travel

Purpose of the Role

To manage all logistics, procurement, transportation, and distribution activities to support aggregation, processing, storage, and market distribution of wild fruit products.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate transportation and logistics for project activities, field operations, and community engagements.
Safely drive project vehicles and ensure timely transport of staff, materials, equipment, and products to project sites.
Regularly inspect and maintain project vehicles to ensure safe operation, including checking fluid levels, tires, brakes, lights, and other essential components.
Plan efficient travel routes, considering traffic, road, and weather conditions.
Assist with loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and goods as needed.
Maintain clear communication with project staff regarding travel schedules, changes, or delays.
Keep accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and any incidents.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, traffic regulations, and safety protocols.
Act as a professional representative of the project when interacting with staff, stakeholders, and community members.

Experience & Skills

Proven hands-on experience in logistics, transport, or field operations.
Practical knowledge of vehicle operation, maintenance, and safe driving practices.
Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to work in rural and field-based environments.
Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Valid Zambian driver’s license (Class C minimum; PSV preferred).
Basic education (Grade 12 or equivalent).
Prior driving experience with a clean driving record.
Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and first aid is an added advantage.

 

4. Project Accounts Officer

Job Title: Project Accounts Officer
Reports to: Project Manager / Finance Manager
Duty Station: Chilanga

Purpose of the Role

To  manage project financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and reporting in line with donor and organizational financial policies.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the financial management of the project, ensuring proper utilization of budgets and compliance with donor and organizational policies.
Maintain accurate financial records of all project activities, including tracking payments, grants, and disbursements.
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management and donors, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Support project budgeting and financial planning, providing forecasts and cash flow projections to guide implementation.
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, donor agreements, and internal financial policies.
Support procurement processes by verifying invoices, contracts, and delivery notes.
Assist in the preparation and facilitation of internal and external audits.
Provide financial guidance and support to the project manager and team for decision-making and effective project execution.
Monitor and manage project assets and inventory purchased under project activities.
Collaborate closely with field staff and other project personnel to ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all financial transactions.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Professional qualification (ZICA/ACCA) is an added advantage.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing finances for donor-funded projects.
Strong knowledge of financial controls and reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
