Application Design & Development Senior Specialist

Position Overview

Zanaco Bank Plc is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the CEO’s Division under the Strategy & Data at Head Office – Support Functions:

Role Description

To support the development and implementation of applications by working with Data Architects, Data Analysts and Business Analysts to accept user requirements, translate these requirements into solution designs, and participate in the full development process life cycle from concept through testing, implementation, and support using the Agile development methodologies.

Job Responsibilities:

· Design, development and maintenance of system interfaces.

· Development and maintenance of code for application systems based on functional specifications and best practices.

· Creation and maintenance of documentation and communication using collaborative tools.

· Working with Business Analysts to produce end-user functionality.

· Providing input and recommendations to project leadership and team members regarding application systems analysis, design, development, and implementation.

· Creating, implementing and maintaining a continuous improvement plan for software development.

· Continuously improving systems and solutions.

· Understanding use cases (and/or user stories) to oversee the design of the architecture for the products to be built.

· Driving consistent standards and approaches throughout the development team.

· Making technical recommendations for the business to automate and make processes efficient or improve customer experience.

· Collaborating with the vendors to identify the features that might be of value to Zanaco.

· Providing options in the determination and implementation of architectural solutions.

· Evaluating current and future solutions, applications, technologies and establishing overall requirements and planning objectives.

· Working with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing, and to develop solutions.

Any other duties as assigned by superiors.
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

· Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 credits or better; including English and Mathematics.

· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.

· At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering.

· Strong experience with data architecture and application architecture.

· Agile project management experience.

· Experience with Banking is an added advantage.

Job Core Competencies:

· Project Management.

· Secure development principles.

· Understanding of at least one Core Banking application.

· Knowledge of at least one Card Management.

· Understanding of payment solutions i.e. Card, Mobile, Internet, USSD, Apps.

· Expert knowledge of database engineering using Oracle and SQL development.

· Knowledge of various data architectures and protocols such as MOM, XSLT, SOA, UDDI, EDA, REST, XML, FTP, WSDL, and SOAP, ISO 8583.

· Expert knowledge of secure transmissions, digital certificated, and PKI.

· Knowledge of ISO 8583, EMV issuing and acquiring standards.

· Good understanding of end-to-end testing cycle.

· Expert knowledge of Git version control system.

· Adept expertise in Docker containerization.

· Expert knowledge of Linux operating system.

· Specialist comprehension of Microsoft Azure APIs.

· Deep understanding of JavaScript es8 and Typescript 4.3.
