Position Overview
The Head Accountant will oversee all financial and accounting operations of the manufacturing company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and management. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures, inventory management, and financial controls. The Head Accountant will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making by providing timely and accurate financial insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities
• Financial Management & Reporting
• Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns, including tax filings, VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
• Cost & Inventory Accounting
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overheads.
• Implement and maintain cost accounting systems to track production efficiency and profitability.
• Supervise inventory valuation, stock reconciliations, and ensure accuracy of records in ERP/accounting systems.
• Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
• Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Support strategic planning with financial projections and scenario analysis.
• Cash Flow & Treasury Management
• Manage cash flow planning, ensuring liquidity for operations and capital projects.
• Oversee banking relationships, loan facilities, and forex transactions.
• Monitor receivables and payables to optimize working capital.
• Audit & Compliance
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and corporate governance requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation for audit trails and financial transparency.
• Leadership & Team Development
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring continuous professional development.
• Establish clear performance objectives and foster a culture of accountability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, HR, sales) to align financial practices with business goals.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s Degree or MBA is an added advantage).
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA is required.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pastel, QuickBooks).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
