Operations Manger-Mine Engineer

Job purpose:

The primary objective is to secure a proficient and seasoned Mining Engineer to oversee the planning, management, and supervision of amethyst mining operations. This encompasses ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant extraction of the mineral, adhering to all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. The role demands a proactive approach to optimize mining processes, maintain operational integrity, and contribute to the overall success of the mining project.

Key Responsibilities

*  Plan and supervise amethyst mining operations.

*  Conduct exploration, sampling, and evaluation of amethyst deposits.

*  Design and oversee open-pit gemstone mining methods.

*  Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.

*  Supervise gemstone recovery to reduce damage and loss.

*  Prepare technical, safety, and production reports.

*  Implement environmental management and mine rehabilitation plans.

*  Supervise mine workers and field staff.

*  Liaise with the Ministry of Mines and local stakeholders.

Qualifications

*  Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering (or Geology)

*  Registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

*  Gemology or gemstone mining training – an added advantage.

*  Valid practicing license

Experience

*  Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining operations.

*  Hands-on experience in amethyst mining (highly preferred).

*  Knowledge of Zambian mining laws and regulations.

Skills & Competencies

*  Strong knowledge of amethyst mining methods

*  Mine planning and supervision skills.

*  Good leadership and communication abilities.

*  Ability to work in remote mining areas.

*  Strong commitment to safety and environmental protection.
