Job description

Job Title: Underwriting Intern

Contract Type: 2 months

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Industry: Insurance and Risk Management

Reporting to: Underwriting Manager

Overview

The Underwriting Intern is a temporary role based at our Lusaka office. The successful candidate will work closely with the underwriting team to assist in various underwriting processes and gain valuable hands-on experience in the insurance industry.

Main duties will include the following:

Assist in evaluating insurance applications and determining risk levels.
Support the underwriting team in gathering and analyzing relevant data.
Help in preparing quotations and documentation for prospective clients.
Collaborate with claims and finance departments to ensure seamless operations.
Maintain accurate records of underwritten policies and communications.
Participate in reviewing policy renewals and modifications.
Assist in conducting market research to support underwriting decisions.
Provide general administrative support within the underwriting department.

Requirements:

A first degree/ diploma in Insurance or a related field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Basic understanding of underwriting principles and insurance standards.
Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
