The role of Project Field Officer (Purchases) is a temporary role for 6 months in the Commercial Directorate. The location is in Mufumbwe and Kasempa.
Job Description

Job Purpose:

To manage the day-to-day purchasing of gold from approved suppliers and artisanal miners, ensuring fair pricing, transparent transactions, proper documentation, and adherence to ZCCM-IH’s gold trading policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct gold purchasing transactions in line with approved pricing structures (e.g., LBMA benchmark minus discount).
Work closely with the assayer to verify weight and purity prior to finalizing purchases.
Maintain accurate purchase records, receipts, and documentation for audit purposes.
Manage the cash float and ensure safe handling of funds.
Build relationships with ASMs, cooperatives, and local suppliers, promoting formalized trade.
Educate suppliers on responsible sourcing and traceability requirements.
Ensure adherence to security protocols during purchases, storage, and transport.
Prepare daily transaction summaries and reconciliations for submission to head office.
Support awareness and compliance with government licensing and export requirements.
Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

·        GCE or Equivalent with Credits or Better in Five Subjects, Mathematics and English Included.
Diploma in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mining, or related field will be added advantage
At least 2 years’ experience in field trading, procurement, or mineral marketing.
Experience handling high-value commodities preferred.
Knowledge of LBMA pricing mechanisms and market operations.
Key Competencies:

Financial discipline and accuracy.
Understanding of gold market dynamics.

Record-keeping and reconciliation ability.
