Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

To operate, track and control security drones/unmanned automatic vehicles for security operations within designated sites and projects as required.

 

Specific Job Responsibility

Conduct ground and flight operations.
Remote-pilot a drone, following a specific flight plan or obtaining useful footage.
Conduct flight demonstrations.
Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks.
Troubleshoot equipment issues.
Ensure compliance with all regulations.
Security data collection.
Report and log all incidents recorded via aerial feed.
Use appropriate PPE in the UAV operations.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Specific Competencies

Strong commitment to SHEC performance.
Good computer skills and familiarity with Google Earth, Google apps, and UAV piloting apps.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Ability to operate radio controlled airplanes or RC systems.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Very strong drive and personal sense of equipment ownership and accountability.
Pro-active, mature, attention to detail and good time management skills.
Physically fit, as this role may be physically demanding at times.

 

Experience required to perform in this job

Mining industry UAV operating experience preferred.
Experience with one or more of the following: ArduPilot, ArduPilot Mission Planner, MAVlink protocol, QGround Control, Mavlink, RFD Tools, Radio Telemetry, or DJI Go.

 

Qualifications

Full grade twelve (G12) certificate.
RPL – Valid Remote Pilot Licence from the CAA (BVLOS rating would be an added advantage)
All qualifications should be certificate by ZAQA
