Tenure: 3 years Contract

2.0 Job Description

The Superintendent is a Senior Supervisor in the Plantation and He/she Assists the senior Superintendent in the Supervision and Monitoring of plantation operations and activities such as work plans. Application of materials, harvesting, pest and diseases, labour Management, task management, report writing, monitoring and evaluating work done like weeding, mulching and general management of the plantation. Monitor and evaluate day worker performance in the plantation.

3.0 Duties and Responsibilities

KEY RESULT AREAS

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES(DUTIES)

Preparation of Materials, tools, Equipment

Assist in preparation of equipment, tools, materials, and transport required for the plantation operations such as planting, harvesting, input application, etc.

Supervision

Supervision of all field operations from land preparation to harvest and rightsizing labour.

Data Collection

Data collection such as plantings, yields, harvest trends, field performance, disease, and pest control.

Stock Management

Receiving and issuing stock and materials needed for operations.

Marking Attendance

Marking daily attendance register, leading, and counselling workers.

Stock inventory

Assist in maintaining inventory of stocks of tools, materials, and equipment.

Maintain Hygiene

Maintaining high levels of hygiene in the plantation.

Record Keeping

Keeping records such as accidents, incidents, daily attendance, etc

Planning

Assist in Planning for operation and calculating labour requirement.

Performance Evaluation

Assist in Monitoring and evaluating worker performance.

Reports

Write daily and weekly reports as assigned by the supervisor

Handle Grievances

Handle grievances and provide solutions.

Reports to: Senior Superintendent

5.0 Knowledge and Skill Levels

Minimum Primary/ Secondary Education:

Full Grade 12 GCE O’Level Certificate or GCSE

5.2 Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications

Degree in Agriculture or any related field

3 years’ experience in agriculture / related

Member of The Agriculture Institute of Zambia or related certifications

Certifications:

Relevant trainings and certifications

Minimum Relevant Work Experience.

Minimum of 3 years experience in Plantations/Agricultural firm, with at least 3 years as a supervisor.

Knowledge of the Palm Oil Industry will be an added advantage
