Job description

Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

MECHANICAL WORKSHOP MANAGER – ZAMHATCH (1)

 The Required Skills for this Role Include:

Managing the overall function of the Mechanical Workshop
Manage planned preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on all of the company’s vehicles
Diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling vehicles, maintaining and repairing any type of diesel engines
Inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
Allocating and supervising work daily to the Mechanics team
Monitoring progress and inspecting completed work to ensure the Mechanics achieve the required standards
Undertaking unplanned work resulting from breakdowns and emergencies, which is to be dealt with efficiently (24-hour call-out)
Ensuring all log books, requisition books and departmental records are effectively maintained to enable stock control, ordering of parts, and all other workshop functions operate efficiently.
Determining vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Producing weekly, monthly and annual statistics and reports.
Rewiring ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
Repairing radiator leaks.
Installing and repairing accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
Examining vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions.
Test driving vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analysers, compression gauges, and computerised diagnostic devices

 The Required Qualifications are:

 Grade 12 Certificate
2 years or more proven experience as a Mechanic.
Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints, etc.
Qualified as a Diesel Mechanic.
Diploma in Heavy Duty Mechanics
Valid Driver’s License
Computer literate

The Required Attributes Include:

Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.
Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
Very good physical strength and stamina.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER – ZAMHATCH (1)

The role will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for managing and optimising the financial aspects of our day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include:

 Identify the right suppliers of goods and services.
Analyse and consolidate requisitions for purchasing in accordance with company policy.
Negotiate terms with suppliers that are favourable to the company.
Liaise with other departments regarding specifications of the goods required.
Obtain quotations, create purchase orders and tally these with purchase requisitions.
Analyse invoices to ensure the accuracy of the goods delivered.
Maintain records of purchases, pricing and other important data.
Maintain an approved supplier listing and review it quarterly.
Monitor inventory to ensure the flow of goods is as expected.
Oversee the monthly stock count.
Perform other related duties as assigned

The Required Qualifications are:

Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits or better, including Mathematics and English
Diploma in Purchasing & Supply
Member of ZIPS
More than 2 years’ work experience

The Required Attributes Include:

Strong knowledge of the industry and market conditions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Impeccable negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Computer literate & experienced with Microsoft.

DIESEL MECHANIC – ZAMHATCH IN MPONGWE (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

Carrying out service and repairs on all heavy goods vehicles.
Carrying out Standard Operating Procedures as required.
Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards.
Performing routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, etc.
Assembling Mechanical components according to specifications.
Examining machines and overseeing diagnostic tests to determine functionality.
Maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to Operator complaints.
Repairing engine failures.
Carrying out services and repairs within time specifications.
Maintaining a clean work environment.
Completing job reports and processing paperwork.
Repairing or replacing parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves and bearings.
Rebuilding parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks, and
And other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

The Required Qualifications are:

 Grade 12 School Certificate.
Must have a minimum qualification of Craft Certificate in Automotive mechanics.
Must be computer literate.
At least a minimum of   3 years’ experience working as an Automotive Mechanic

 The Required Attributes Include:

Able to make decisions.
Knowledge of mechanical.
Problem-solving skills.
Must have analytical skills.
Able to communicate clearly.
Experience working with DAF trucks.
