Job description

Since its establishment, PG Meats is growing into one of Zambia’s leading suppliers of beef, pork, and poultry products, driving agricultural value addition, supporting local farmers, and contributing to national food security.

As the company continues to expand its operations, we are seeking a diligent and experienced Stock Controller with a strong background in meat processing or food production to ensure accurate inventory management and efficient stock flow across the value chain.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Stock Controller will be responsible for monitoring and managing inventory levels for raw materials, carcasses, packaging, and finished meat products. The role demands high attention to detail, excellent organization, and strong understanding of stock movement within a meat processing operation. The successful candidate will work closely with the production, procurement, sales, and finance teams to ensure accurate stock records and timely reporting.

KEY RESULT AREAS

1. Inventory Management 

Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for raw materials, carcasses, processed meat, and finished products.
Conduct daily stock counts and reconcile variances with production and finance teams.
Track meat yields, wastage, trimmings, and production outputs.
Ensure proper documentation of stock movement across receiving, cold rooms, production lines, and dispatch.

2. Receiving & Dispatch Coordination

Inspect and verify all incoming raw materials, carcasses, packaging, and supplies.
Ensure that deliveries meet quantity, quality, and hygiene standards.
Coordinate dispatch of finished goods, ensuring proper FIFO/FEFO rotation.
Work with sales and logistics teams to schedule accurate and timely deliveries.

3. Stock Monitoring & Reporting

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports for management.
Report variances, discrepancies, or potential losses immediately.
Monitor stock usage trends and alert management of potential shortages or overstock situations.

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure proper cold chain management for temperature-sensitive meat products.
Adhere to internal controls, hygiene standards, and food safety requirements.
Support implementation of inventory control procedures within production and storage areas.
Maintain  quality control documentation.

5. Operational Coordination

Work closely with production supervisors to confirm daily production plans and outputs.
Liaise with procurement on replenishment needs based on stock levels and forecasted demand.
Support finance and costing teams with accurate stock data to ensure proper cost allocation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 School Certificate.
Certificate or diploma in Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Business Administration,  or related field.
A minimum of 3 years’ stock control experience, preferably in Meat processing, Food production or FMCG manufacturing
Proven experience with stock management systems and MS Excel.

Strong numerical and analytical skills.
High accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
Good understanding of production processes, yields, and cold room operations.
Ability to identify stock variances and propose corrective measures.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
