Job description

Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products. 

The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position in the Finance Department to be based at Nakambala.

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT X 1 – PERMANENT

This position reports to the Procure to Pay Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

·      Ensure that supplier terms are adhered to and that payments are made on time.

·      Clear all outstanding items on the GRIR.

·      Route vendor related invoice queries to the relevant departments.

·      Ensure that all outstanding invoice variances are referred to the relevant department within 24 hours of capturing invoices and ensure these queries are escalated to the relevant Manager, should a response not be received within 3 days.

·      Ensure “In Progress” invoices are checked and queries followed up on a daily basis.

·      Perform the 6-point check before processing invoices.

·      Capture a daily average of invoices as per expectations/KPI’s.

·      Ensure critical payments are made on time.

·      Verify new vendors against the Illovo Vendor Database as they are received.

·      Review and capture new One Time Vendors and their related details as and when required.

·      Capture related Cash Vendor Payments.

·      Promote and adhere to the business’ procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Ant Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

·      Other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•    Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

•    Degree in Accountancy, ZICA licentiate, partly qualified ACCA, CIMA

•    Preferably 2 years’ experience.

•     Required computer literacy levels.

•     ZICA membership mandatory.

•    Suitably qualified applicants must submit certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
