Job description

The Assistant Accountant & Administration Officer will play a vital supporting role in the financial team, working closely with the Accountant to ensure efficient financial operations. This role involves raising payments, assisting with various accounting functions, contributing to financial reporting, and providing support in payroll management, budgeting, and compliance activities. The job holder will report to the Finance Manager.

Key Accountabilities
Assist in payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.
Maintain payroll records and address employee queries related to payroll.
Contribute to the maintenance of accurate financial records for both operations and management accounting.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
Collaborate with the Accountant in the development and monitoring of budgets.
Provide data and insights to support budgeting processes.
Support financial analysis processes to identify trends and areas for financial improvement.
Prepare reports to communicate financial performance.
Assist in coordinating tax-related activities, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Contribute to compliance efforts, preparing documentation for audits.
Handle administrative tasks related to financial operations.
Manage documentation and filing of records.
Assist in monitoring daily cash balances and ensuring adequate funds are available for operational needs.
Prepare and reconcile bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
Process payments and receipts, including electronic transfers, cheques, and petty cash transactions.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all bank transactions in the accounting system.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by compiling cash and bank schedules.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Registration with relevant accounting professional bodies.
Entry-level candidates or those with relevant experience of up to 2 years (including internships are encouraged to apply).
Strong writing skills and ability to deliver organized and complete reports.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Detail-oriented with good analytical skills.
