Job description

To carry out mechanical maintenance, repair, and operational support for CEC Renewables Limited’s solar power plants, which include both fixed and tracking photovoltaic (PV) systems, as well as associated switchgear and transformer stations. The role ensures reliability, safety, and efficiency of all mechanical and electromechanical systems across the plants. The job holder will report to the Operations & Maintenance Engineer.

Key Accountabilities
Conduct routine inspection, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all mechanical systems across solar plants.
Maintain, align, and calibrate solar tracker systems to ensure optimal performance.
Inspect, service, and repair plant mechanical components, including PV mounting structures, gearboxes, drives, and support assemblies.
Carry out mechanical maintenance activities within switchgear and transformer stations, including enclosures, support frames, and auxiliary mechanical components.
Monitor and maintain the condition of structural and protective systems (piles, beams, fasteners, panels, doors, louvres, etc.) at plant and substation facilities.
Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment and plant expansions.
Collaborate with electrical and instrumentation teams in multidisciplinary maintenance activities.
Keep detailed maintenance logs, defect reports, and improvement recommendations.
Generate and properly file work activity Reports.
Ensure all mechanical maintenance work complies with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Ensure strict adherence to company health, safety, and environmental policies.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
Minimum Advanced Mechanical Technician Certificate.
Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
At least 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a power generation or industrial plant environment.
Sound knowledge of drive assemblies, gear mechanisms and structural maintenance.
Skilled in using mechanical tools, measuring instruments and alignment of equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Basic knowledge of MS Office.
