Job description
Nanga Farms Limited is a large, irrigated sugarcane estate situated 25Km Northeast of Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The company is part of the ABF Group, and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of cattle. The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the positions of:
Finance Manager x1 – (D4)
Permanent Role Reporting to – General Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete monthly management reports and annual financial reports, and ensure all deadlines are met and ensure full compliance with IFRS & Group policies.
• Accountable for strategic planning, budget forecasting and control
• Deliver financial reports and metrics and bringing rigour to the evaluation and implementation of value enhancing decisions.
• Manage subsidiary financial operational processes including supplier payments and other (i.e. T&E
payments) and all payroll related processes.
• Accountable for internal controls governance
• Accountable for internal and external audit process management
• Respond to implement corrective action in relation to audit queries
• Clearly define and measure/track KPI’s and drive robust performance by working closely with the heads of Nakambala finance operations center.
• Authorise and post Journals
• Reviews and approves General Ledger reconciliations
• Manage all sundry sales and receivables.
• Reviews responses on ‘Query Resolution’ listing shared with P2Pand assists (where necessary) with onward cascading of unresolved queries to respective Management
• Reviews Performance & commentary to the FD on Monthly Process & Exception Reporting
• Produce and maintain cane roots and standing cane models and verify against SAP processing and estimate reporting
• Preparation & coordination of Board papers
Provide quality support to Line Management
• Partner with the agriculture department, providing both challenge and support to ensure clear accountability & insight into results.
• Focus on streamlining processes & evolving reporting to suit the specific requirements of the business over time.
• Proactively manage cost per ton to ensure achievement of set target.
• Continuously review and analyse the financial impact of actual cane harvested to date against planned cane volumes for the year.
• Deep understanding of key drivers for cane growing and the impact on cane volumes
• Effectively collaborate with line Manager & General Manager to ensure achievement of set targets (i.e. cane and sugar volumes)
• Support agriculture initiatives through financial analysis (future values, sensitives, and ratio analysis)
• Work closely with Business Support and Business Improvement teams to prepare business
cases (IRR), financial modelling and analyses for all capex projects to ensure viability and subsequent realisation of envisaged benefits.
Customer and Stakeholder Accountabilities:
• Develops and maintains favorable stakeholder relationships, internally with business and externally with suppliers, customers and auditors
• Formulate and manage Service Level Agreements with required stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 Certificate (or Equivalent)
• Bachelor’s degree in accountancy / business administration / Equivalent. CIMA / ACCA / CA Zambia/ Equivalent
• 5 – 8 years relevant working experience
• ZICA Member
