INVITATION FOR BIDS: DRILLING AND INSTALLATION OF COMMERCIAL IRRIGATION BOREHOLES
The Salvation Army Zambia Territory, through the Climate Change Resilient Agriculture Project (CP23-ZAM/2690) implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, invites sealed bids from qualified and reputable borehole drilling contractors for the drilling, casing, development, and installation of eight (8) commercial irrigation boreholes—four (4) in Gwembe District and four (4) in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province.
1. PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Climate Change Resilient Agriculture Project seeks to strengthen community resilience and enhance agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers in drought-prone areas. Reliable water sources are critical for the project’s success. The boreholes will support commercial irrigation demonstration plots (1 hectare each) where farmers will be trained in agroecological and climate-smart farming practices.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
1. Conduct site verification and hydrogeological surveying for accurate borehole siting.
2. Drill, case, and develop boreholes to an estimated depth of 100–120 meters, including yield testing.
3. Conduct water quality testing to ensure suitability for irrigation.
4. Supply and install solar-powered pumping systems for each borehole.
5. Design, supply, and install complete irrigation facilities for one-hectare commercial demonstration plots (drip irrigation systems).
6. Construct and mount water storage tanks (two (2) 5,000 liters each).
7. Provide site rehabilitation and environmental protection measures after works completion.
3. BIDDER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Certificate of Incorporation (PACRA).
· Valid ZRA Tax Clearance Certificate.
· Valid ZEMA Environmental Compliance Certificate.
· Company Profile and list of relevant past projects.
· Proof of experience in drilling and installing commercial irrigation boreholes.
· At least three (3) traceable references of similar assignments.
