Civil Engineer (Building Construction)

Location: Zambia (office-based with travel to project sites)

About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on Civil Engineer with strong building-construction experience and excellent CAD/BIM and structural design software skills. You will lead and support planning, design, supervision, and delivery of projects to specification, budget, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design, and review structural and architectural details for building projects.
Produce and manage drawings/models in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit; maintain BIM standards and model coordination.
Perform structural analysis, design checks, and calculations using ProtaStructure and Tekla Tedds.
Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, method statements, and construction programs (using Microsoft Project).
Lead/oversee site works: setting-out, quality control, progress tracking, and HSE compliance.
Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site records; support procurement and approvals.
Conduct inspections, testing, and snagging; close-out documentation and as-built records.
Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities, and internal teams; produce weekly/monthly reports.
Drive continuous improvement in digital workflows and document control (MS Office suite).
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate.
Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
At least 5 years’ proven experience in building construction (design and site supervision).
Tech-savvy with excellent proficiency in:
Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
ProtaStructure and Tekla Tedds
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project
Registered with EIZ and holder of a valid ERB practicing license.
Valid Driver’s License (Class B).
Strong knowledge of building standards/codes, QA/QC, HSE, and contract administration.
Excellent communication, reporting, and teamwork skills; high integrity and accountability.
Desirable (Added Advantage)
Experience with BIM coordination, clash detection, and model-based quantity extraction.
Site contract administration (variations, claims, payment certificates).
Familiarity with Zambian procurement and statutory processes.
Remuneration
