Job Title: Sales Engineer – Mining Technology

Location: Lusaka Zambia

Department: Sales and Business Development

Reports To: Regional Director, Edge IOT & AI

Edge IOT & AI delivers intelligent monitoring systems for the mining and construction sectors. Our solutions enable mines to track production, equipment health, fuel, tyres, drivers, and pedestrians in real-time — improving safety, efficiency, and decision-making across operations.

We are expanding our footprint in Zambia and are seeking a highly driven Sales Engineer with a strong mining engineering background to lead business development within the country.

Role Overview

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying opportunities, engaging clients, and driving sales of Edge IOT & AI’s hardware and software solutions to mines and related industrial clients across Zambia. The ideal candidate is a technically competent professional with a proven record of selling complex technology-based solutions into the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a sales strategy to expand Edge IOT & AI’s presence in Zambia’s mining industry.
Identify and qualify new business opportunities with mining companies, contractors, and plant operators.
Conduct client presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions tailored to customer needs.
Prepare and submit proposals, quotations, and tender documentation in line with company guidelines.
Manage the full sales cycle — from lead generation and negotiation to deal closure and post-sale support coordination.
Collaborate with the technical and operations teams to ensure solutions are aligned with client requirements.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of mining operations, automation trends, and competitive landscape.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders in the Zambian mining sector.
Provide regular reporting on sales activities, pipeline development, and market insights.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical sales, preferably within mining or industrial automation.
Proven success in closing deals for complex solutions involving hardware, software, or integrated systems.
Demonstrated network of decision-making contacts within Zambia’s mining sector.
Strong understanding of mine operations and familiarity with digitalization, fleet management and safety systems.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within Zambia and regionally when required.
