Job description

Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and Agribusiness Company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution, and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, leather, shoes, stock feed, and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

WORKSHOP MACHINIST – (MPONGWE FEEDMILL) (01)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

Studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
Selecting appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and positioning or load material for a job.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting machine controls or control media as required.
Verifying conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
Setting up and operating the machine on a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks on machines as required.
Ensuring that the machining workshop is clean and tidy.
Ensuring that tools for lathe, milling, and drill equipment are available and serviceable
Responsible for ensuring that the workshop’s specialized equipment is kept in good order, i.e., Bending press, guillotine, hydraulic press, pipe bending machine, and pedestal drill.

The Required Qualifications are:

Full grade 12 certificate         
Certificate in Machining/Mechanical Technician.      
3 years relevant experience, knowledge and experience in Feed Mill operations is an added advantage.
 Member of EIZ
