We’re Hiring! Our client, a leading manufacturer of mining equipment, is seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer to join their team based in Kitwe.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate the implementation of local Safety and Environment Management and Strategic Plans
Develop, maintain and enforce all safety procedures and regulations within the operational mining area and places of work
Demonstrate an understanding and uphold customer’s safety & environmental plans
Actively develop the HSE capability of management and workforce
Monitor and report on internal and external HSE trends (Display KPI’s)
Monitor and report on legislative compliance
Manage mine access packages and licenses for all Liebherr staff
Manage lifting equipment, support vehicle and tools certification plan
Produce timely and consistent statistical and analytical reports
Ensure appropriate training and awareness programs are delivered where required or appropriate
Act as primary contact with 3rd parties such as HSE related regulatory bodies
Provide workable solutions to HSE challenges whilst also driving a program of related continuous improvement
Aid site Supervisors in investigating and reporting of accident, hazard and near-miss events, providing result generating corrective/preventative action where required
Ensure robust audit, inspection and assessment programs are conducted to validate and improve both legal and business standards

Qualifications

Certificate or Diploma in Health, Safety and Environment
