Position: Project Officer

Location: Kabwe, Zambia

Reports to: Programs Manager

Contract duration: 2 years

Starting date: As soon as possible

Support for Poverty Reduction in Zambia (SPRIZ) is a local NGO legally registered under the Society’s Act registration number ORS/102/35/4591.  The mission of SPRIZ is to empower communities with skills and frontline services that foster the reduction of poverty, hunger, and illiteracy within their communities through advocacy, capacity building, and service delivery. As part of its work, SPRIZ has implemented anti-child labor projects in the prime tobacco growing districts of Southern, Western and Eastern Province. This year, SPRIZ would like to extend its work to Central Province and is therefore inviting suitable candidates to apply for the position of Project Officer to be based in Kabwe.

Job Summary

The Project Officer is responsible for leading field-level project management and coordination of the planning, monitoring and reporting. He/she will support the national programs team in community mobilisation and facilitating activity implementation by Community Child Labor Committee (CCLCs) and the District Child Labor Committees. The Project Officer will also manage stakeholders at district and community levels to ensure effective communication on project goals. He/she will attend stakeholders’ meetings at district and provincial levels, while also coordinating the relevant district project teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Implementing the child labor project at the district and community levels to ensure the project remains on schedule, within budget and in scope.
Coordinating the planning and implementation of the project activities as outlined in the project document and work plan.
Ensure all project activities are implemented timely in line with detailed implementation plans and ensure diversions are identified, timely elevated and resolved.
Managing local-level project communication, including schedules and budgets
Leading project activity implementation, monitoring and reporting
Participating in data collection and entering data in the data system on monthly basis.
Developing project control and risk management procedures at the field office level including ensuring good stewardship in the management of organizational assets
Coordinating and participating in training district and community structures
Representing SPRIZ in stakeholder meetings at district level
Compiling and preparing monthly and quarterly reports in line with project requirements.
Any Other duties as assigned by the Programs Manager and /or management

Required Attributes, Experience and Qualifications

Must hold a degree in Social sciences, Project management, Development studies or related field.
Must have 5 years of experience in managing social development projects.
Strong knowledge of children’s rights and experience in managing child protection or child labor projects will be an added advantage.
Experience in managing Income Generating Activities (IGAs)
Experience in community mobilization
Strong communication (verbal and writing skills), interpersonal and representational skills.
Good analytical and report writing skills.
Knowledge of word, Microsoft excel and power point
Proven experience of working with donor funded organizations
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Experience in riding a motorbike with a valid license is a must.
