Job description
AFRIWOODS AND DEVELOPMENTS LIMITED is a construction company based in Lusaka; we are hiring the listed below positions.
1.0 Civil Engineer (02)
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review engineering designs and detailed technical drawings for infrastructure projects
Supervise construction and maintenance activities on site, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards
Conduct site assessments and prepare reports on structural integrity, materials, and environmental impacts
Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and government agencies to ensure timely project execution
Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, EIZ standards, and environmental regulations
Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, progress reports, and budgets
Manage civil works such as foundations, drainage systems, access roads, structural supports, and utility installations
Resolve technical issues and provide solutions to on-site challenges
Assist in procurement planning and quality control of construction materials
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
Membership and Accreditation with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and a latest EIZ I.D
Minimum 5 years of practical experience in civil engineering, preferably in infrastructure, mining, or telecoms projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Project or similar design/project software
Strong understanding of Zambian construction laws, health & safety regulations, and engineering codes
Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills
2.0 Welder (01)
Key Responsibilities
Interpret fabrication schematics and blueprint drawings
Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, ARC, and gas welding processes
Fabricate and repair metal structures, brackets, and pipelines based on technical drawings
Conduct weld inspections and tests to ensure structural integrity
Maintain welding tools and equipment in good condition
Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE
Assist in assembling mechanical systems and support fabrication workshops
Minimum Qualifications
Craft Certificate in Welding
Minimum 3 years of welding experience in industrial or construction setting
Ability to weld various types of metals and thicknesses
Understanding of welding codes and safety standards
3.0 CHEF (01)
Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Chef for our Canteen to be based in Lusaka and to prepare daily meals for employees, with a focus on traditional Zambian cuisine and other occasional fancy dishes. The chef will also handle menu planning, cost control, and maintain kitchen hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
Keep accurate records of meals served, purchases made, and inventory levels
Developer weekly meal plans in consultation with management and employees.
Cook Zambian meals
Plan and prepare meals within approved budgets
Track and record stock for all Kitchen supplies
Plan weekly menus and manage food budgets.
Monitor inventory and ensure timely food procurement.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
Minimize food waste and control daily meal costs
Maintain a daily meal register to record employees who have consumed meals and ensure the sign.
Requirements:
Good hygiene and food safety knowledge.
Able to work independently and manage kitchen staff.
2+ years cooking experience in a similar setup or any busy environment.
Knowledge of Zambian and international meals.
Strong skills in menu planning and budgeting.
