On Site Service Technician – Level IV North Western Province Zambia

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented On Site Service Technician to join our team specializing in Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics for our Service Operations Department located in Lumwana Mine, Solwezi Zambia. Zambian qualified personnel encouraged to apply.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

Expert-Level Diagnostics and Repairs:You’ll independently perform complex diagnostics and repairs on Cummins engines and components, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability for the customer.
Customer Relationship Champion:As the primary onsite contact, you’ll build strong, trust-based relationships with the customer, becoming a go-to expert and reinforcing Cummins’ reputation for excellence.
Mentorship and Technical Coaching: You’ll actively coach and guide less experienced technicians, accelerating their development and strengthening the overall technical capability of the team.
Safety and Compliance Leader:By consistently modeling and enforcing safety protocols, you’ll help maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
Productivity Driver:Your ability to work autonomously and efficiently will set a high-performance standard, boosting overall site productivity and service quality.
Knowledge Transfer and Skill Building:You’ll contribute to the long-term success of the team by sharing your expertise and helping to build a sustainable talent pipeline within the function.
Continuous Improvement Advocate:By identifying recurring issues and proposing process improvements, you’ll help enhance service delivery and reduce repeat failures.
Brand Ambassador:Through your professionalism, technical excellence, and customer-first mindset, you’ll represent the Cummins brand with pride and integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Strong Technical Expertise and Coaching Skill: You must possess deep knowledge of Cummins engines and systems, along with the ability to coach both experienced and junior technicians effectively, transferring knowledge and fostering team growth.
Organizational and Planning Abilities:Success requires managing parts inventory, coordinating staffing and overtime, and reviewing repair plans and tool lists to ensure smooth operations and timely service delivery.
Customer-Focused Mindset with Sales Awareness: You should be able to identify additional service and sales opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
Attention to Detail and Process Discipline:Accurate documentation, adherence to safety and quality standards, and timely escalation of unresolved issues are essential to maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience

Education, Licenses, Certifications, Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
Relevant Engineering/Technical qualification
Locally valid driving permit.
Experience: Significant field service work experience.
Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Customer service experience.
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
