Job description:
General Role Purpose
This role will participate in preparation of drill & blast designs according to the design parameters, QA/QC monitoring and support various initiatives and projects within D&B Engineering.
Core Specific Responsibilities
Design, Plan, monitor and report on all Drill & Blast activities to ensure a productive and efficient mining operation.
Develop short and medium term drill & blast bench master plans and designs using existing Software’s – Deswik, Shot plus
Assist with continuous improvement projects in drill & blast including monitoring and reporting over data from various technology modules, fragmentation and vibration monitoring and predictions, assist with hardware’s monitoring and installations etc.
Provide comprehensive and timely contributions to the daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports.
Coordinate and provide designs and relevant information’s to various stakeholders on timely manner.
Review and analyses blast reports identifying trends and areas of improvement.
Develop a sense of continuous improvement, seek to streamline drill and blast process to increase productivity, quality and compliance.
Provide QA/QC analysis to relevant stakeholders using blast IQ data on a weekly basis.
Perform other related duties as and when required.

Operational or Environmental Requirements:
This position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering drill and blast technical expertise in planning, design, QAQC and Optimisation.
Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
Comply with current, regional environmental regulations.
Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
Comply with the provisions of the Mine Sites Environmental Management System.
Qualifications & Experience:
B Eng. Mining Engineering or higher in Engineering (Mining, Civil or Mechanical), Geology, Geotechnical or equivalent.
More than 3 years of open cut experience in mining technical and/or operational roles.
Computer skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project).
Plan, organize and follow up on work, ensuring that tasks and schedules are fully understood within the team, handing over or escalating as required.
Ensure relevant mining production personnel are up to date on any changes in D&B plans and designs.
Continuous commitment to health and safety practices.
Advise and provide recommendations for continuous improvement opportunities in work processes.
Be accountable for the quality of service and performance
Blasting License
EIZ and ERB registration
Valid driver’s license.
