Job description

Job Title: Customs Clearance and Bonded Warehouse Officer

Location: Chambishi, Kitwe

Department: Logistics / Compliance

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Customs Clearance

Receive and review files from the Central Clearing Supervisor.
Understand clearance instructions and documents.
Prepare and submit customs entries (dummy and final) in ASYCUDA World after supervisor and customs approval.
Classify goods per HS Codes and calculate duties under Zambian customs law.
Ensure accurate payment of VAT, Customs Duty, and Excise Duty.
Record all entries in the customs ledger.

2. Bonded Warehouse Operations

Oversee cargo movement in/out of ZRA-approved bonded warehouses.
Maintain up-to-date bonded stock records and submit reconciliation reports.
Ensure all cargo is properly documented and captured in ASYCUDA World.
Monitor export cargo exits and acquit RITs; send acquittals to the exporting office.

3. Compliance & Coordination

Ensure adherence to the Customs & Excise Act, VAT Act, and other regulations.
Liaise with ZRA and other regulatory bodies on customs matters.
Represent the company in audits and inspections.
Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders.

4. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and archive customs documents: Bills of Entry, Invoices, Packing Lists, etc.
Maintain physical and digital records as per ZRA requirements.
Generate reports on clearance performance and bonded inventory.

Qualifications & Skills

Level of Education: Undergraduate Degree
Diploma in Clearing, Shipping, and Forwarding
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
Proficient in ASYCUDA World
Strong knowledge of Zambian customs laws
Excellent communication, teamwork, and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Good computer skills
Drivers’ License is a plus
